The Refuge, A Healing Place Review

An addiction can completely destroy a person’s life, leaving him or her with little hope for the future. The Refuge, A Healing Place, offers individuals an opportunity to overcome addiction problems and difficulties with depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety and other addiction related traumas. Strategically situated between Orlando and Gainesville in Central Florida, The Refuge addiction center provides people with the professional treatment they need to overcome substance abuse problems and start anew.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

The Refuge offers a number of onsite detox programs along with partial hospitalization to suit individual need. These programs combine various therapies to include 12-step recovery, cognitive behavior and holistic approaches to get the positive results people seek. The center focuses on treatments that promote physical, spiritual and emotional healing leading to long-term recovery.

Before enrolling in a treatment program, clients are interviewed by professional counselors to get a better idea of their background and medical history. This information is used to determine treatment options. If a counselor feels an individual would be best suited for another treatment facility, he or she will recommend alternative options where clients can receive the treatment most appropriate for their condition.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

The Refuge treatment center is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), a non-profit organization that helps establish standards for quality rehab services. The center has also received recognition from both The Jason Foundation and Association for Addiction Professionals.

The center’s staff is comprised of an outstanding team of medical physicians, certified nurses, psychiatrists, psychologists and professional counselors, many of which have personal experience with addiction problems, giving them greater compassion and empathy to help others in their time of need.

ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES

Living accommodations at The Refuge consist of camp-like cabins which clients share during their stay. During treatment, clients can partake of such onsite amenities as swimming pool, hiking trails, volleyball and basketball courts, ropes courses and a fishing dock. In between therapies, clients are encouraged to participate in the physical activities they enjoy most as well as explore meditation and yoga to enrich their physical and mental health.
